At Diana's Utopia Candle Co., we want every burn to be a beautiful experience. Follow these simple tips to get the most out of your candles.

🕯️ First Light: The Most Important Burn

Your candle's first burn sets the memory of the wax. Allow the wax to melt all the way to the edges of the jar before extinguishing — this prevents tunneling and ensures an even burn for the life of your candle. This typically takes 2–4 hours depending on the size of your candle.

✂️ Trim Your Wick

Before every burn, trim your wick to ¼ inch (6mm). A trimmed wick prevents mushrooming, excess soot, and an overly large flame. You can use a wick trimmer, nail clippers, or small scissors. Remove any wick debris from the wax before lighting.

⏱️ Recommended Burn Time

For the best results, burn your candle for no more than 4 hours at a time. Burning longer than this can cause the wick to move or lean, the jar to overheat, and the fragrance to diminish faster. Allow the candle to cool for at least 2 hours before relighting.

🔥 Safety Tips

  • Never leave a burning candle unattended.
  • Keep candles away from children, pets, and flammable materials.
  • Always burn on a stable, heat-resistant surface.
  • Keep out of drafts and vents to avoid uneven burning or flare-ups.
  • Do not burn when less than ½ inch of wax remains in the jar.
  • Never use water to extinguish a candle — use a snuffer or gently blow it out.

🌡️ Storing Your Candles

To preserve fragrance and appearance, store your candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Keep the lid on when not in use to protect the wax and scent. Properly stored candles can last 12–18 months before the fragrance begins to fade.
